When starting out in your research - after you have gathered up all the information around your house and talked to your relatives - the Census Reports can give you great "clues" to further your research. It can tell you the birth places and an estimated birth date. Whether they owned property and the people who lived in the house with them. Read each line carefully and jot down the information and the plan of where you can look to confirm that information. The reason it's considered a "clue" is we do not know who the information came from and if they really knew the answer to the questions. It could have been a neighbor, babysitter, friend, etc. And the person asking for the information, may not be able to spell the words correctly.
I found this comic strip at http://geneapalooza.blogspot.com/ and thought it would explain how you need to take the Census information with a grain of salt or why you may have to dig a little deeper when you can't find one. Enjoy!
Happy hunting .....

Mother' Day - Patricia
Wanted to honor my Mother on this post. Patricia know as Pat. She has four children - 3 girls and 1 boy. 3 of them live in the same city with her and one living about 16 hours away who comes to visit as much as she can.
Mom, as we call her, loves her crafts. She has had many in her lifetime but at 87, she has decided to keep her crafting to crocheting afghans. But in her younger years, she would make all kinds of things. A couple of her children inherited that gene and some inherited her great cooking skills. Gardening was also one of her many talents. She would rather be outside working, than in the house doing chores.
Attached is a picture of her and one of her many afghans taken this year.
Two of her 4 children were able to celebrate Mother's Day with her in person. We took her to lunch.
